RS Components
RoHS Certificate of Compliance

EU Directives 2011/65/EU and 2015/863 restrict the use of the 10 substances below in the manufacture of specified types of electrical equipment.

Whilst this restriction does not legally apply to components, it is recognised that component “compliance” is relevant to many customers.

RS definition of RoHS Compliance:

  • The product does not contain any of the restricted substances in concentrations and applications banned by the Directive,
  • and for components, the product is capable of being worked on at the higher temperatures required by lead–free soldering

The restricted substances and maximum allowed concentrations in the homogenous material are, by weight:

SubstanceConcentration
Lead0.1%
Mercury0.1%
PBB (Polybrominated Biphenyls)0.1%
PBDE ( Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers)0.1%
Hexavalent Chromium0.1%
Cadmium0.01%
DEHP (Bis (2-Ethylhexl) phthalate)0.1%
BBP (Benzyl butyl phthalate)0.1%
DBP (Dibutyl phthalate)0.1%
DIBP (Diisobutyl phthalate)0.1%

The supplier of the item listed below has informed RS Components that the product is "RoHS Compliant".

RS Components has taken all reasonable steps to confirm this statement. Information relates only to products sold on or after the date of this certificate.

RS PRO Harsh Environment Wire - PTFE Insulation

From RS PRO, a range of harsh environment cable, Primarily utilised by aircraft manufacturers. EFGLAS cables have an operating temperature range of -70°C to +260°C with a maximum voltage and frequency of 600V (rms) and 1600Hz respectively. The cables are constructed using nickel plated copper wire conductors and insulated with a combination of PTFE tapes and PTFE impregnated glass yarn braid for added strength. All models are highly reliable and excellent quality.

Note

The maximum working voltage on these cables is 600Vac

Features and Benefits

• Nickel plated Copper
• PTFE insulation
• Various wire sizes
• Grey colour

What is harsh environment wire?

Defined by its name, harsh environment wire is cable suitable for less than friendly environments. Typically used as hook up wire, each reel performs to an optimum level within harsher areas. High temperature can be a massive threat in terms of electronics, causing all kinds of health and safety risks. These RS PRO cables provide excellent resistance to such problems.

Where is harsh environment wire used?

Any electronic devices situated within harsh environments would benefit from this type of wire. Laboratories would be be a good example, as they are areas which could have toxic and potentially damaging gasses that interfere with wires. As as example, some areas using these cables would be:

• Construction sites
• Car engines
• Aeroplanes
• Petrol stations

What is PTFE?

Standing for Polytetrafluoroethylene, PTFE is a synthetic type of wire shielding, known for its impressive dielectric properties. Widely used within aerospace and computing, the frequency of use shows the excellent capabilities in electronics. Such is the design of the material, it is capable of being fully operational at varying temperatures.
